May 29, 2012 - Dr. Theresa Daniel completed a successful primary campaign, winning a three-way contest with 54 percent of the vote. Daniel is now the Democratic nominee in the General Election that will be held November 6, 2012.
The Dallas Morning News has recommended Dr. Theresa Daniel as the "superior choice" in this race, based on her management experience, firm grasp of the issues, and independence as a leader. "During the screening, I told the editorial board the same things I have told voters since I began my campaign: I have the experience, the integrity and the leadership skills to make a difference," said Dr. Daniel.
Here is what the Dallas Morning News had to say:
"Theresa Daniel is the superior choice...for the Precinct 1 seat on the Dallas County Commissioners Court. Daniel strikes us as the most experienced and knowledgeable of the trio running for the seat currently held by Republican Maurine Dickey... Daniel, 58, who analyzes data for the Dallas Independent School District, holds advanced degrees in public policy and administration and should be well-positioned to ask tough questions and guide the board to informed decisions... Daniel said the county has nearly exhausted places to cut the budget and must now increase the efficiency and correct problems at Parkland Memorial Hospital. Parkland, she said, is a crucial part of the region’s health care network and must be a priority of the commissioners. She opposes a tax rate hike and makes a case for the county to more aggressively seek available federal funding and pursue innovative public-private partnerships." (Dallas Morning News, May 9, 2012)
